RULES AND GUIDANCE

 

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

 

 

  • Please stay on paths.  The ground cover is very fragile. (Dog guests seem to do this quite naturally)
  • No outdoor fires, and please be careful with all flame sources. (There are no fire department services on the island)
  • Strictly follow the instructions for the incinolet electric toilet with each use.
  • No smoking
  • No illegal use of any substances. 
  • Do not disturb wildlife. (The island and surrounding waters are used by many black duck and merganser broods, and a nesting loon pair do a good deal of fishing around the cove islands.)
  • Please observe the usual water and boat safety practices while in and on the water, e.g. life vests, operator competence and experience, supervision of children, nighttime boat operations, and consideration for wind and wave conditions.  There is a rescue life buoy at the “guest beach”.
  • Heed the advice of your island guide
  • Maine law requires that all children under age 10 must wear a USCG-approved life vest when on the water
  • Maine does not require a non-resident fishing license for children under the age of 16.  Non-resident licenses for those 16 and over are.

Licenses may be purchases at the Pine Tree Store in the Village or online.

  • Place all trash and refuse in the lined trash can on the back porch.  The town transfer station is open Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:00 am until 3:00 pm.
  • Maine bottles and cans are subject to a 5-cent refundable deposit and can be redeemed at authorized stations in Princeton and Calais.
  • Check-in time to be arranged at the time of booking. No check-in on Saturday and Sunday
  • Check-out time is 2:00 pm any day.
